Merlin (James A. Stephens), the great wizard has three students: Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage), Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina), and Veronica (Monica Bellucci). Unfortunately, Merlin is one of the students eventually voted in favor of Morgana le Fay (Alice Krige) and betray his teacher. Merlin died but before the last breath, this witch had told him at Balthazar. One day Merlin will appear offspring who will be the key to defeat Morgana.

When he fought against Morgana, Balthazar has locked the two witches in prison shaped doll. Maxim is also locked in it. Balthazar task now is to find descendants who will fight Morgana Merlin has unimaginable power.

Year of change but Balthazar is still waiting for Merlin's heir to the clan of this until one day he met a young man named Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel who turned out to be the next generation of Merlin Unfortunately,. The meeting was also released from prison and now Maxim Balthazar have to wait until Dave and adult ready to inherit the magic Merlin.

Old themes in new technologies is one business that is often taken by the filmmakers. The proof, how many movies with similar themes and the proof is also a producer willing to finance such films. Sorcerer's Apprentice also offers old theme is wrapped in a visualization, realistic modern. Unfortunately, these efforts are not offset by other components which also formed the backbone of the film.

In the tradition of Disney movies, magic has always been a core problem and can not help but Dave age teens who are not interested to learn to do something magical as taught by Balthazar. As a result, chemistry between the characters played by Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel actually not even formed. Even if there is an interesting fact is Alfred Molina act which serves as Maxim Horvath. It seems, once again, Cage stuck on the wrong role despite the fact that the ability of this actor is more than enough.

Kim Won-Kang (Park Hie-Sun) probably never imagined that fate would take him to the ground far away from their place of origin and also to rescue the country. Kim is a former football player who failed in his life.

After a career in football ended, Kim decided to start his business. Unfortunately this effort did not go well as he expected. In desperation, Kim then left Korea to East Timor. In a small country Kim saw a business opportunity. He saw many children playing ball without wearing footwear. Kim then opened a shoe store but again had to swallow a bitter pill because the kids do not have enough money to buy soccer shoes.

At a critical time Kim thought was to share knowledge for these children. Kim then became coach of young soccer players. Task Kim did not stop there. She was then trusted to train this young football team and lead them to the international level tournaments. Can Kim holds a great responsibility of this?
